Actually, I’m still in the midst of exams, but after such a long time spend studying, I decided to take a small break to put this up.For anaesthetists in Australia, they undergo 5 years of training (2 years basic training, 3 years advanced training), after 2 years of PMET (Prevocational Medical Education and Training). They also have to complete a EMAC (Effective Management of Anaesthetic Crises) or EMST (Early Management of Severe Trauma) course or equivalent course. And before they are awarded the fellowship, they have to pass the Primary and Final Examinations. Now that’s quite abit of work. But then again, I guess you do have to consider job satisfaction and many other factors that I do not have the time to think about now. Anyone care to share their experience with switching specialities? On a lighter note, these videos were from a concert in UK called the “The Black and White Menstrual Show LIVE 2007″. Adam Kay and Suman Biswas are 2 full time doctors who have produced an entire album of songs entitled “Fitness to Practice” under the band name The Amateur Transplants to raise funds for the Macmillan Cancer Relief. They began singing in the London Underground until someone decided they should be made more famous. Black humour permeates all their songs and I guess you’ll have to be able to stomach that kind of humour to really enjoy their songs. Oh, and you’ll need abit of medical knowledge too. Here’s more of their funny songs from their concert. (Warning: There is some explicit content in there, so please do not watch if you are offended by such things)This is a song about a careless surgeon who messed up an operation to the tune of Careless Whisper. This is a song about masturbating to the tune of The Lion King’s “The Lion Sleeps Tonight”.This is a song about penis size and parturition (giving birth). It’s to the tune of Titanic’s “My Heart Will Go On”This song is entitled New Man Song and its about all the SNAGs out there who aren’t really guys. It’s to the tune of “I’m Like a Bird” by Nelly Furtado. This is a song about a boy’s relationship with a paedophile to the tune of “You’re Beautiful” by James Blunt. This is a song about Matthew Kelly, to the tune of “Grace Kelly” by MikaThis is a song about a mother’s baby when she visits an antenatal clinic. The song sounds familiar but I do not know where its from. This is a song about the broadband internet and pornography, to the tune of “The Basic Necessities” from the Jungle Book by Disney. These are not from the concert, but they’re worth watching for a good laugh too..This is a song about some drugs that doctors need to work with, to the tune of Tom Lehrer’s comic song “The Elementals”.This song is about clerking patients, to the tune of “Eternal Flame” by Atomic Kitten. This song is a public service announcement to all men about AIDS, to the tune of “More Than Words” by Extreme. This is a song about jaundice to the tune of “Yellow” by Coldplay. This is a song about the things one can’t do without 2 hands. This is a song poking fun at the pharmaceutical companies about how they market their drugs, to the tune of “Supercalifragilisticexpilidocious” from Mary Poppins. Here’s some videos about other non-medical things they are not happy about in UK.This is a song about the flaws of the London Underground. This is about the flaws of the NHS system. Its really cool that they can do such stuff. Its also another reason why I can’t imagine myself doing anything else other than Medicine. Anything is possible! Its such a broad and all encompassing field that I’m simply spoilt for choice. Its been really fun so far in medical school (other than exams…) and I believe it’ll only get better as I enter my clinical years next year.By the way, if you want to support them (please do..10% of what they earn from the album sales goes to the Macmillan Cancer Relief), go to this website.Alright, its time for me to get back to my books now. Wednesday is my last paper and I can almost smell the freedom!!

My housemates and I went to watch this movie today just to take a break from all the studying that’s been going on. It was rather funny, and there was a lot of sex in it (which explains why its MA 15+ in Australia).
One thing I noted was that Stu (played by Dan Fogler) eventually found the love of his life, who was a girl with a condition called polymastia. The woman had 3 fully developed breasts on her chest, where they would normally be (Stu was loved breasts with such a passion that he became a plastic surgeon to augment breasts!). I knew that was impossible, because in mammals, there is a mammary line, which starts in the axilla and runs down through the nipples and ends in the groin. All breasts/nipples would develop along this line. It is rather common for people to have more than 1 nipple (According to eMedicine.com, the prevalence is 0.22% in a Hungarian population , 1.63% in black American neonates, 2.5% in Israeli neonates, 4.7% in Israeli Arabic children, and 5.6% in German children), but I’ve not heard much about polymastia.
Being the medical geek that I am, I was wondering whether there were any cases of polymastia in the world, so I went to do a google search and I found one that was published in the Indian Journal of Dermatology.
This 30 year old woman presented with a pair of lipomatous swellings in her axillae which she noticed during pregnancy. On examination they found that it was “solitary, bilateral symmetrical lobular, soft, tender swelling, mobile freely under overlying normal skin”. They made the clinical diagnosis of polymastia without nipple and confirmed it with fine needle aspiration (FNA).
I’m sorry if I might have crushed the fantasies of some people, but the facts cant be denied.

Yes..The latest Mac OS X is arriving tomorrow!!
I’m pretty excited.
I really look forward to trying its functions.
Finder
In this new version of Finder, I can browse my files as if I were browsing iTunes. How cool is that!
Along with it is the new Spotlight, which can now search web browser histories, the Mail inbox, and even other computers on the same network. So let’s say you want an file from another computer, its just search, click, drag and drop! Easy peasy.
Quick Look
This function allows you to look at the file and have a preview before you even double click to open it.
Moreover, its beautifully presented in a coverflow, just like iTunes.
Time Machine
This is really impressive. The presentation and functionality of it is just amazing, its a trademark of the products that Apple build. What’s best is that I do not have to worry about backing up anymore! It does it automatically and all I need to do is just to insert an external hard disk into my USB slot. No more lost files!
Desktop
The new desktop is just so pretty and more organised than ever. With Stacks, all downloads are kept neatly on the dock, rather than cluttering up your desktop. The new dock has become such a pleasure to look at, with its reflective surface casting shadows of each application, making them more vivid.
Boot Camp

In fact, I am already using a beta version of this application, but I just wanted to put this in because I think it is so worth mentioning.
Now I can have 2 operating systems on one computer! And both running at native speed!
The best thing about this is that I can switch to Windows whenever I need to use anatomy programs provided by Monash University for my learning and also, I can play PC games on my beautiful Mac.
And as for those of you who can’t share my excitement because you do not own a Mac, here’s a little something for you.
